I have been rolling grounders back and fourth with my 7 year old and he loves the additional challenge this creates. I like it because it focuses his form and drives the two hand pickup (fingers up on throwing hand) that converts into a seamless hands to chin, arm back to throw on target scenario.
It was exactly what I needed to get the kids I practice better at fundamentals and the price makes it even better
These softhands are pretty much universal. They fit both myself an adult male and my 5 year old who is roughly in the 50 percentile of both height and weight. They seem durable and help reinforce the lesson of having your free hand near the ball as you catch it, whether grounders, pop ups, etc. Great value for the price IMO.
I coach a 9U baseball team, I have a hard time teaching the kids to field the ball with both hands, this device forces them to use their throwing hand to catch a ground ball
I purchased 2 pairs. I use it for infield training. When used properly, it teaches players how to keep their gloves out in front so they can see their glove and ball coming into it at the Same time. It promotes proper hand placement when making plays, keeping the ball in front of them, and if done properly, bringing the ball to center for transitions.
